You don’t need to be a Metrologist to understand that taking measurements happens all the time!
As defined by the Oxford Dictionary, Measuring means “ascertain the size, amount, or degree of (something) by using an instrument or device marked in standard units or by comparing it with an object of known size” We, as a global community, take a lot of different measurements on a daily basis. From the watches on our phones to the cups we fill with drinking water, we are always practicing metrology.
Making estimations, cooking properly, and purchasing clothes are just a few of the ways we use metrology on a daily basis. Without measurements, we wouldn’t be able to accurately estimate, cook tasty meals, and buy clothes that fit our bodies. Measuring allows us to provide structure and remove chaos from scenarios that would end up happening without a systematized method of insight.
