3-Day GD&T Fundamentals Class

Prerequisites: Blueprint Reading Skills (recommended, or equivalent experience)
Text: GEOTOL Pro Fundamentals Workbook 2009
Instructor: Jacek Macias
Location: 302 E. Main St., East Dundee, Illinois 60118

Our GD&T training class is a basic, practical, & straightforward approach to geometric tolerancing and conforms to the Standard ASME Y14.5M-2009. In this program, we focus on the “what, when, why, and how” of GD&T.  The main objective is to bring all participants to a common, basic, and operational level of understanding. Our basic GD&T class will benefit employees in many different roles in manufacturing including inventors, designers, engineers, quality inspectors , machinists, CNC operators, and many more!

Participants will leave the course with a comprehensive understanding of basic GD&T principles and their applications, and will also know how to interpret GD&T on engineering drawings. Attendants should have a basic knowledge of how to read blueprints and engineering drawings prior to taking this course. We do offer a 2-Day Basic Blueprint Reading course if you feel you need more instruction before GD&T.

  • The expert-led training goes over the history of GD&T and will provide an in-depth study of geometric characteristics and tolerance zones, in an easy-to-understand format.
  • The class is lecture-based, but also provides time for student questions and classroom discussions. We encourage all students to bring their own drawings to share their struggles and to learn from others. (with permission from your company, of course!)
  • Each student will also leave with a GD&T Pocket Guide which serves as an excellent resource post-training — A small, quick reference when you’re looking for help on the job!

“Being able to visualize the tolerance bands of GD&T callouts has greatly improved my understanding of GD&T and has equipped me to give recommendations to machine operators of how to correct things like runout & flatness issues.”
